Ketevan Kobaidze- Assistant Professor of Emory University School of medicine held public lecture "CASES FROM THE FIELD (Diptheria Outbreak Lessons , Botulism with my experience aqt CDC and Antrax with Bioterrorism twist from CDC)" on 5th of July at Tbilisi State Medical University.
In 1995, she started work in the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a director of the department of epidemiology on a diphtheria outbreak in the republic of Georgia, and then she was offered an opportunity to work as a guest researcher at CDC Atlanta, where she remained until 2001. She completed her internship at Mercer University School of Medicine and her internal medicine residency at Atlanta Medical Center in 2006.
Dr. Kobaidze is actively involved in the teaching process of medical students and residents. She received Emory University School of Medicine’s Golden Apple Teaching Award twice- in 2011 and 2016. She currently serves as an associate site director for HMS service at EUHM. She is engaged in research, has multiple publications and has given presentations at a number of national and international meetings. Dr. Kobaidze earned her MD degree at Tbilisi State Medical University (Tbilisi, Georgia). She graduated the university with honor diploma and did her PhD in the field of immunology and allergology. Her PhD work was dedicated to hepatitis B immunology.
Lively discussions with American MD Program Students and TSMU professors continued after the end of the public lecture. Dr Kobaidze shared her experience and answered the questions students were interested in.
