Becoming a Doctor course, implemented in the American MD Program of Tbilisi State Medical University, starts in the first semester, and follows the curriculum throughout 6 years as a parallel and integrated course alongside the core medical subjects.Becoming a Doctor course develops clinical encountering skills, such as history taking, physical examination, logical thinking, clinical reasoning, professional behavioral skills, etc. There are different activities implemented to achieve these goals. One of them is role-play learning activity applied via standardized/simulated patients.
`Becoming a Doctor' course faculty trains standardized patients in particular clinical cases. During standardized patient sessions, USMD Program students have the possibility to advance their clinical skills with these simulated clinical encounters.
Besides the clinical encountering skills, Becoming A Doctor also covers many other critical issues for the medical profession, including peer-to-peer communication, medical law and ethics, preventive medicine, as well as personal and career development aspects. Becoming a Doctor course is being developed with the help and direct participation of partners from Emory School of Medicine.
