Visit in Genetic Labs

American MD Program students’ visit in genetic labs 19-28 November, 2015, TSMU’s American MD Program students had Genetics module (Prof. Elene Abzianidze, Assoc. Prof. Nino Pirtskhelani, Assist. Prof. Tinatin Tkemaladze). It should be emphasized, that during the module students had lecture-practical classes at the Prenatal Diagnostic Centre and at Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau, where they discussed common diagnostic methods in molecular and medical genetics (i.e. methods of prenatal diagnostics, karyotyping, DNA isolation, PCR, sequencing etc.), as well as their importance and application in medicine. Students showed great interest for such kind of ‘close-to-practice’ classes and emphasized, that such type of practical study greatly promotes and deepens their theoretical knowledge. No doubt that such kind of practical experience is beneficiary for the students and will help them become highly-qualified doctors in future.
