WORLD AIDS DAY 2023

As December is a month for HIV AIDS awareness, the students of Department of Academic Excellence (DAE), with the support of American MD Program, conducted a conference where they marked 40 years of HIV Treatments. 

The Department of Academic Excellence of US MD Program invited speakers - Professor Gordon Churchward, Dr. George Kamkamidze and Dr. Givi Javashvili who shared their experience and insights at the conference. 

Nithesh Hariharan, Elene Shavgulidze, Lasha Chkhikvadze, Elene Pestvenidze, Nika Vashakidze, Elisabed Chikobava, Angeline Abraham and Janadi karawita, the students of the American MD Program made special presentations where they discussed researches conducted related to HIV AIDS.

„It was a such a long way from 1983 to where we are now helping and supporting and ending the stigma against HIV positive patients. And as future doctors and future healthcare workers it is imperative for us to understand all the ethics, health policy, treatment ways…”, - representative of DAE of USMD. 

World AIDS Day is an opportunity to reflect on the progress made to date, raise awareness about the challenges that remain to achieve the goals of ending AIDS by 2030. Each World AIDS Day focuses on a specific theme, which this year was Global solidarity, shared responsibility.
