The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Giorgi Amilakhvari opened the 2nd educational building of Tbilisi State Medical University. Together with the administration of TSMU, the minister visited the renovated historical building, which was rehabilitated according to modern standards, equipped with the latest laboratories, technologies, conference spaces and auditoriums.
Within the framework of the visit, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, also met with the team of the American MD Program. The Program Director, Associate Professor Eka Ekaladze, introduced the specifics of the program, talked about the long-term relationship with the Emory University School of Medicine (USA, Atlanta), the involvement and role of the American side in the development of the program, the achievements of the students and graduates in the United States Medical Licensing Exams (USMLE) and the US residency.
During the visit, Minister Giorgi Amilakhvari got acquainted with the current practical activities provided by the educational process of the American MD Program of TSMU: Physical examination of the respiratory system with the participation of a simulated patient for the fifth semester students; practical training of surgical suturing; simulation training – Basic Life Support (which was organized for the first-semester students by BAD faculty and senior students as a part of orientation meetings).
The American MD Program of TSMU, started new academic year 2023-2024 in the renovated 2nd building of the university.
