In the framework of the American MD Program, professors from Emory University, Dr. Markus Klass and Dr. Natia Esiasvhili visited Tbilisi State Medical University. The aim of the meeting was to discuss topics such as Integrated Teaching, Anesthesiology Clerkship and Career perspectives in Oncology in the United States of America.
Dr. Markus G. Klass is an anesthesiologist in Atlanta, Georgia and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Emory University Hospital Midtown and Grady Memorial Hospital. Dr. Esiashvili earned her MD from Tbilisi State Medical University in her home country, the Republic of Georgia. She completed her residency in radiation oncology at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta where she served as chief resident.
In 2015, Natia Esiashvili, MD, was named Chief Quality Officer in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. A board certified radiation oncologist, she specializes in the treatment of complex pediatric cancers and hematological malignancies in adults. In addition, Dr. Esiashvili is involved in using radiotherapy as a component of the bone marrow transplantation program. She is co-leader of the Young Adult Cancer Survivorship Program at Winship. Dr. Esiashvili specializes in the treatment of complex pediatric cancers and hematological malignancies in adults.She is a clinical member of the Cancer Prevention and Control research program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. Dr. Esiashvili is a member of executive committee of Pediatric Radiation Oncology Society and led programs for low- and middle-income centuries for past 6 years. Additionally, she holds memberships with the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Radiology, Children's Oncology Group, and Pediatric Radiation Oncology Society, among others.
